The activity, conducted on April 23, 2024 via blended setup, signifies the department's commitment to staying abreast in the digital realm. Regional and field office personnel responsible for handling data attended the face-to-face session at the DILG Regional Office, while other personnel joined virtually to ensure broad participation in the organization. This initiative was in collaboration with the Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT) XII. Mr. Ronald Jones S. Hinay, Provincial Officer of DICT South Cotabato, conducted a lecture on the essential aspects of the Data Privacy Act and Cyber Security, discussing major threats and prevention strategies to safeguard information and government assets. Additionally, Mr. Argie Boy D. Magbagay, Planning Officer II, provided an orientation on the Philippine National Public Key Infrastructure (PNPKI), one of the core services of the DICT which aids in ensuring safe and reliable online transactions among individuals and government agencies. In her opening message, OIC-Regional Director Atty. Rochelle D. Mahinay-Sero, CESE, underscored the importance of capacitating DILG personnel responsible for managing office data, particularly as the government transitions towards digitalization. She highlighted recent cyber attacks on several government offices which targeted sensitive Personally Identifiable Information, and emphasized the critical need to protect Filipinos' privacy and government systems from exploitation by cybercriminals. RD Sero also emphasized that understanding data privacy and cyber security is not only crucial for personal protection but is also a civic responsibility as strengthening digital infrastructure contributes to the resilience and progress of the nation in the digital era.

LTIA REGIONAL ASSESSMENT TEAM SUCCESSFULLY CONDUCTS THE REGIONAL ASSESSMENT AT BRGY. LINAO, MATALAM, COTABATO AND BRGY. POBLACION, TUPI, SOUTH COTABATO Two barangay justice systems, or Lupong Tagapamayapa, in the region were assessed by the Lupong Tagapamayapa Incentives Awards (LTIA) Regional Assessment Team as part of the annual search for the most outstanding indigenous conflict resolution systems in the grassroots level. DILG Doseโ€™s Local Government Monitoring and Evaluation Division (LGMED) confirmed, four more Lupons in SOCCSKSARGEN will undergo the LTIA assessment. Other Lupon entries are set to be assessed this April 2024. The Regional Assessment Committee is headed by DILG XII LGMED Chief Musarapha A. Region 12 Comes Together for Peace: Local Government Academy Conducts Peace Wemboree in Rehiyon Dose The Local Government Academy (LGA), in collaboration with Kahayag Foundation Inc. and DILG Rehiyon Dose successfully conducted the Peace Wemboree held on April 3-4, 2024 at the Farm @ carpenter Hill, City of Koronadal, South Cotabato. The event brought together the youth of Sarangani and South Cotabato to promote peace, solidarity, and unity. It also featured significant topics from esteemed resource speakers and advocates for peace, highlighting the significance of the role of youth in building a culture of positive peace. โ€œWAR is the depletion of trust, kaya naman we must strive to become successful peacebuilders in our region. Again, being a successful peacebuilder, we must have these only 2 words in mindโ€”hope and trust. If we have hope, we can act, but if we have trust, we can act together,โ€ Ms. Irene Santiago, the Founder of Kahayag Foundation and LGA Trustee, said during her welcome message. The Peace Wemboree served as a platform for dialogue, understanding, and celebration of diversity. The youth actively engaged in a series of interactive workshops, discussions and peace-building activities aimed at fostering mutual respect and cooperation. Through open discussions and exchanges of ideas, participants explored innovative approaches to address social issues, promote inclusivity, and create pathways for sustainable development. โ€œLet us preserve the Peace WEmboree spirit in our hearts and thoughts as we bid our temporary good-bye to this group. Let's keep advocating for a better future, acting as peace ambassadors and peace builders in our communities, and acting as catalyst of change.โ€ DILG OIC-Regional Director Atty. Rochelle D. Mahinay-Sero said during the closing ceremony of the event. This shared commitment serves as a beacon of hope and a testament to the resilience of the human spirit in the pursuit of positive peace in the region.
